Children’s growth and developmental milestones are linked to certain ages but each child will reach a milestone at his/her own pace. Our Early Childhood Educators apply the knowledge that the stages of physical, social, emotional, creative, and cognitive development of each child are different.
We use several tools to assist in our screening process including: Nipissing Developmental Screen, Ages & Stages Questionnaires and Kindergarten Readiness Checklist prior to school entry. Through these screening tools, we are able to evaluate:
- Language
- Cognitive Understanding
- Gross/Fine Motor
- Social/Emotional Development
- Kindergarten Readiness
By using the screening tool, our Early Childhood Professionals are able to identify areas of need in the classrooms and adapt the curriculum, methods of interaction, and physical environment to meet your child’s needs. We also work individually with children to help them attain skills and achieve specific learning goals identified by families, FLLC staff, therapists and community specialists.
Fort Langley Learning Centre works closely with community professionals to ensure each child reaches their full potential. We work closely with Inclusion Langley Society, The Centre for Child Development and various programs through the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
